Recently I happen to be reading this confucian ethics book. A book that was not so nice in the outlook, a book that was collecting dust under the coffee table. That day, i happen to be kind of boring and decide to pick up the book and read it. After few pages, i was so attracted by the contents of it that i decided to share it with the people around me.
I remember one story: An old monk and young monk was on their way to the other temple. Along the road, they met a lady who look so helpless as she has no idea how to cross a streaming river. When the old monk approached her and asked her: do u need any help? The lady answered : i need to get over to the other side of the river urgently. So the old monk replied her: ok, i carry u over. So the old monk carried the lady and cross the river with the young monl. However, the young monk had this puzzled face but didnt ask the old monk. This went on for so long till one stage, the young monk cant take it. He decided to ask the old monk. He said: senior, we are monk, how can you carry the woman over the river? I tot we cant even touch woman?
The old monk answered: Junior, we have walked 20km from the river why are you still carrying it with u ? I have already put the lady down le, why are u stil carrying it?
Morale of the story - In Life we are always repeating things or incident in our mind especially the bad things. One time we think of it, we are slapping oyrself with the incidents. We should learnt to put things down and move on rather than repeating and slapping ourself with the negative energy
Guess, Living seems to be an easy task but we often confuse ourself and use a more difficult angles to see things...
Janice ...you can do it...You are improving... u r getting better everyday..
